Sean Amezcua was born in 1993 in San Diego, California and is the fifth and youngest member of his family. He has a Bachelor's of Art degree from California State University Long Beach, with an emphasis on Documentary Film Making.
During his childhood Sean fell in love with Japanese culture and history, and even more so anime. He loved to watch shows like Dragon Ball Z and Gundam with his older brother as well as play popular Japanese games such as Phantasy Star. Jade Yoshio French, the producer for Coalition Animation, and Sean became best friends in middle school when they found a common love for Japan and Japanese culture. This love led them to even taking a trip to Japan when they were young to experience life there first hand.
In the years to come after that trip, that passion grew even stronger which led Sean to studying Japanese film and anime in college. He learned the artistic ways of Miyazaki and Kon which fueled his love for anime and its magical way of story telling. All of this has led him to where he is now: the Creative Director for Coalition Animation. Sean hopes to one day produce an anime that could resonate with viewers and influence them the way it did to him as a child and in college.
